I ordered one of these several months ago and I loved it - it is made from metal. I liked it so much I went back and ordered another for my other sewing machine so I wouldn't have to keep switching this stand from machine to machine. When I received it, I noticed it is NOW made of SUPER flimsy PLASTIC! It weighs very very little so it topples easily and I still can't attach the pole to the base - the screw won't catch!!! Went back to look at the item description online...no indication that it is NOW made of plastic and not metal. This should be indicated on the item prior to ordering!!!Jeanne

hi-I've got the plastic one, didn't know there was a metal one! Anyhow, a friend of ours got out the drill, a screw to go 1/2 way into an old craft table, and it works great! Since it's now "tacked down", it goes nowhere! you might have to get a small file & be very careful to put the main "stick" in.
