Absolutely Outstanding Machine
I started doing some research to replace my Kenmore sewing machine after the button hole feature started giving me issues and because I wanted an upgrade to a computerized machine. I went out and bought the Singer Stylist and was truly disappointed with its performance. Then I learned that Janome was partnered with the Kenmore Sewing machines and I started research everything Janome. I finally narrowed my search down to the Janome 8050 which I bought at Hancock's Fabrics for $249. I was amazed at the performance of this machine. It sews smoothly, makes very little noise, goes over thick layers of clothing and very easy to operate. I give this a 5 star rating simply because I cannot find any faults with it. Great product Janome!!!

great basic machine
I bought this machine for quilting, and while it initially sewed a beautiful straight stitch for construction, there is VERY LOW clearance for thick fabrics or multiple layers. The local store does not carry the walking foot attachment. Also have had difficulty with the buttonhole maker. Good basic machine.

Great Machine, Great Price, Little Information
This is the best machine for the money, but hold onto the User's Manual, and all the paperwork you get with it because you won't find it digitally anywhere.

Great sewing machine
LOVE SEWING WITH THIS MACHINE 2 ISSUES- THE CARRY HANDLE IS IN THE SPOOL WAY, SOMETIMES THE THREAD GETS CAUGHT UP IN THE HANDLE- I WISH THEY WOULD HAVE PUT JUST A SIMPLE OPENING DEVICE INSTEAD OF A SCREW TO TROUBLE SHOOT THE MACHINE THIS GETS ON MY NERVES WHEN I NEED TO TROUBLE SHOOT, MY OLDER MACHINES JUST POPPED OUT ON THE SIDE TO CHANGE THE BULB OR GET THE THREAD UNTANGLED- OVERALL GOOD SERVING WORKHORSE OF A MACHINE FOR THE PRICE

Great machine!
Awesome machine!! Sews better than a very expensive "high end" European machine I have. Absolutely love it!!!

a sweet machine
Just got this machine, my first computerized one, a month ago and I really like it. Can't wait to do some real sewing on it.

Lacks basic stitches!
Loved this machine until I realized it has no blanket stitches. Hard to believe a machine at this level neglects such a basic feature. My old mechanical Janome even had a blanket stitch. Taking the 8050 back ASAP and sticking with my old machine. They just don't make em like they used to.

I like this machine.
After using embroidery machines with the one touch button to run them, I wanted a sewing machine that also was one touch. This one fills the bill and I really enjoy using it. I go to craft fairs and can put the cord and accessories in the removable part of the arm and don't have to worry about not having the foot pedal. I have everything I need in one compact package. It has done everything I have needed it to do with all the built in stitches. It is great!

Best machine I have ever used.
This has to be the best machine I have ever used. It will sew through many layers of denim like butter. I love the one touch sew. I had no idea how bad my other machine was until I purchased this one. I used to work at Hancock and I recommended this machine to everyone.

Great Machine for the money
This machine is worth every penny. It has great features, such as automatic up/down needle, speed control, various backstitch/knot options. I think about how much I enjoy this machine every time I use it!!

Very nice entry computerized machine
Good buy on an entry level computerized sewing machine with a few additional nice features. I love the Start/Stop, the needle threader and the bright display - a dark background with light numbers in the display is really lit up! The feet slip on rather than the usual Janome snap system, but the other top loading Janome feet I have fit. Nice! Hancock's has good service, and customer service will answer any questions very promptly if you email them. Shipping was fast and delivery also. This machine is very light - no more than 14 or so pounds - I love that too. If you are not sewing heavy vinyl or only purse leather, or canvas sails, you should find your needs met with this machine. Hancock's needs to include more information in the description though.

Excellent intermediate machine.
Great machine. The first review stated there was no blanket stitch. . Mine has 3 BLANKET STITCHES. They are called "applique" stitches though. It's very easy to use. Intuitive. A great intermediate machine.

My Dream Machine!
Just spent time getting to know my new girl, she's Fabulous! I Love Every feature that this little girl brings. Easy as pie to change to my 1/4 inch foot for my quilting and love that I control the the needle stop and start and the sewing speed!! Very Happy!

A lot for the price and Janome quality!
I just got my 8050 from Hancocks yesterday and am very impressed with everything. Went through all the stitches on a sampler, all sewed perfectly including the buttonholes. Selection of stitches and adjusting length and width is super-easy. Standard Janome 7mm feet slip on the sturdy plastic holder, and the feet with the machine can be used with the metal foot holder, they are interchangeable if you prefer to add the metal snap holder. I've been sewing for 50 years and nothing matches Janome in my opinion. If you want to read more reviews, look up the DC1050, it's the identical machine for other retailers at a higher price. It will take me a while to master the on/off way of sewing, but I already discovered something not in the book that is invaluable - when you get near the end of a seam hold the button in and the machine will slow down to a crawl, then release it when you are ready to stop. You can start off super-slow the same way, release it and it will take off. I will write another review after I've had time to really learn the machine. You can't go wrong with Janome!

Great machine
I have had this machine two months now and she sews whatever I put under the presser foot. Great stitch selection, I love the extra feet, love the two digit stitch selection display and my favorite thing is the START/STOP - I do not use the foot pedal on this machine! THANK you Hancock's!

Nice
I just got it today. Machine has a nice feel to it. Light weight without being cheap. The 1/4 foot is not a quarter inch foot will replace with a real one. I would recommend it for a travel and class machine that will do a lot.
