Threading tips for a great machine
My friend purchased this serger and brought it to me because it would not sew.She had missed the loop under the presser foot when threading. If possible, tie the new thread to the old when rethreading and pull it through. It is much faster and avoids errors.

Serger's
Always on threading your serger ALL knobs needs to be on ZERO, if not your threads will break.

Still a Great Machine...
I've been using this for over a year now and it's almost maintenance free! The serger thread seems to last forever! I've made lots of clothing and I'm still on my first rolls of serger thread in over a year! The threads are great and I've had no trouble out of it! Would highly recommend this serger to the sewer in your family!

Need Help, not chaining at all.
I am having a problem. I know it's something I'm doing wrong. I had to thread my machine from scratch. It isn't serging at all now. I'm very new to this. I read my manual, I followed the chart. I started with far right lower looper thread , next 2, 3, 4. I also tried 2, 1 , 3 , 4 in threading as someone suggested. Nothing i'm doing is working. I counted to make sure I'm hitting every mark on threading. Can anyone help me. I want to use this great serger. I got it for christmas and got half my project done. It's not about the tension, I think maybe it's my threading, or is there a button I could have hit. I really want to use it today. Please help. Thanks.

thread breakage not a machine problem
I'm sorry, I don't have this machine. But had to respond to a couple of comments. It is not a fault in the serger if the threads break, check to see if it is threaded correctly. Any machine will have thread breakage if not threaded properly.

I just bought my Janome Juno and love it.
Once it was ready to go I did ONE test piece and started right in. It worked great from the start. I don't know what I did before my serger.

Great Machine
This is my first serger. It works great and is easy to use. I can't wait to get the gathering foot.

I really enjoy it.
SIMPLE AND VERY NICE SEWING WITH THIS MACHINE. I thought it would be tough, but I read the manual step by step walked me through all about it.

Love it!
After reading a lot of reviews, I decided to buy the Janome 3434D, because of the price and the features it has. I'm very satisfied with it. You have to do your reading, but essentially the instructions are clear enough and easy to follow. My machine came threaded and I followed the instructions for changing the thread by cutting and tying a knot to the new thread. Although I have, also, changed all threads from scratch very successfully with the book manual. Always write down the settings your machine came with, because usually they are the ideal ones. So if you have to change settings, you can always go back to the original ones. Changing the settings to rolled hem its easy, following the manual, and they came really nice. The only thing that I do not like is that the box comes with all this pictures of beautiful finishes that you supposedly can create with this machine, but the manual do not tell you how, except the basic ones. But I'm so hook up with this machine that now I would love to have one with the cover stitch feature! If you can afford a little more go for one with the this feature. Another thing that help me a lot to loose the fear of working with it was to watch a lot of sergers videos in youtube and the things that can do. Also I bought a book by Singer about sergers that covers everything and it has full colored pictures.

thread breaking solved
I have this serger. I had problems but I was missing one of the last two loops in threading. Reminder there is one loop under the pressure foot and another at the end of the looper. Sometimes getting one in you miss the other. Good luck.

Good Serger For The Price
Bought this on sale a couple of years ago. Always threaded it by tying on the new threads. Well, somehow I managed to undo something and it took me two whole hours (my whole sewing class time) to get it threaded again. Even the sewing store people couldn't do it. It has to be in a certain order and you need to catch every hook & loop. This machine seems to have "hidden" places to thread. I've had Bernina 234, Pfaff 4872 and Babylock Imagine sergers and never had this much difficulty. It may be that my eyes are older and my fingers fatter, but even using tweezers, it is hard to thread from scratch. I ended up using a technique my Pfaff serger instructor used...unthread, rethread, unthread & rethread, until you can do it in your sleep! It does a nice job and tensions easy to work. However, I just decided it was totally worth it to go back and get another Imagine, even though it is 5x the price!

Too Easy To Be True!!
Was getting ready to buy a Brother serger, until I saw this!! Like so many others I was a little intimidated by it when it was actually sitting in MY house! It took 2 days before I even took it out of the box. How lucky could I be? It was pre- threaded! I followed the instructions, and before I knew it I was serging!! I have a Singer CE150 embroidery machine, it took 3 YEARS to figure out, AND it only has 1 thread!! Very excited to be able to try new projects. I just hope the machine continues to work as well as it does now!

lower looper thread
Always remember to thread the lower looper thread before the upper looper.

I love my serger
I have this Serger and it is wonderful. I did have a problem with thread breakage until I discovered I was missing a loop right there at the end. Now it works fine. I purchased mine at Hancock and got a great price too. This is the 3rd machine I got at Hancock. They are always very helpful when teaching you to use your new machines.

Nice for the price!
I was hesitant to purchase this model after reading the nightmare reviews about threading this machine. But, it is very well explained in the manual and colour coded on the machine so I have had no problems with threading. It is not as quiet as I expected so I rated it 4 stars. However, I'm glad I finally purchased this machine and confident I will get my money's worth out of it!!!

Janome Model 3434D
Did any of you ladies sergers come with multi-colored thread throughout on the front of serger? No spooled thread was attached. I was concerned that I may have received a "re-boxed" DEMO. Because I was told it was the last serger available. Thanking all of you in advance!

I love it!
I was hesitant about buying a serger as I've read reviews about how difficult it is to thread a serger. Luckily, this came pre-threaded to where I could just tie my thread to the ones already there. However, soon enough, 1 of my threads broke, so I panicked for a bit. I took out the manual and read line by line. After 30 minutes, I was able to thread this machine with no looking at the book! This has been one of my greatest sewing investments. =D

NICE! LOVE IT!
Never had a serger before and to be honest, when I got it, it looked intimidating...but with the easy to follow instruction manual...I was up and running in no time. I threaded it right the first time! I was so proud of myself! :-)

Love this serger
I love this machine! It handles thick/bulky layers beautifully. My only concern is that I would like other accessory feet and replacement feet. Still it's an excellent machine.

Unthreading
We use this machine in a costume shop and it works great. I have found that if you let the chain make a continuous thread after your serging, and pull it around (in one motion) and let the serger cut the thread off, I never have a problem with unthreading! I have taught many people to do this and it works fine. The only unthreading (done on any machine) is if it is serging over a heavy seam or the fabric layers are very very thick. You need a sharp knife and the correct needles for thick fabrics! Also, when re-threading, re-thread all the threads from right to left. Don't try to just thread the one that is unthreaded. I bought one of these for myself and I'm about to buy another one of these for the shop!

thread breakage
I have a Juki serger and I had problems with the thread breaking. I discovered that the cheap cone thread breaks all the time and messes up your serger especially in the loopers. I changed to better thread like Gutermann and haven't had any problems since. Don't be cheap about the thread you use.

Great machine
I have this machine, use it all the time. The thing to remember when threading is to thread #2 first then 1, 3 ,4. I figured this out by mistake, no more breaking threads for me.

GREAT MACHINE
It is a great machine that is easy to operate and the manual is easy to understand. I too had problems with that lower looper breaking and rethread it carefully and now it works like a champ on knits and cottons. Love it!

  Janis Hermann from Midland, Texas
good but needs improvement.
I have loved using this serger, but I do have problems with the lower threader breaking the thread. Is there any tips that you might have there. When it works, it works really well but when that lower threader isn't done right, somehow it keeps on breaking the thread and I do not know what to do about it.

  Beth from Worland, WY
It needs a little improving
I like my machine except the lower thread is breaking on me quite often. It works great other than that.

The Juno 3434D has exceeded all my expectations.
Holy cow this thing is great! I've had it a month and used it to make a coat, serging all the seams and using the rolled hem setting to roll the hems on the liner. I have confidence in this serger to do exactly what I need and to be ready to fly when I need it. At this price I should have bought a new one years ago, instead of wasting time wrestling with a 20 year old used serger that I thought I could learn on. I have learned more about serging in one month with the 3434D than the past 4 years with that old one. One piece of advice; The 3434D comes threaded with a different color thread for each needle and looper. As soon as you take it out of the box open the covers and take several Pictures of the thread routes for future reference because the owners manual is in black and white. Other than being in black and white the owners manual is OK.
