Average Review: Fun with supervision Works fine with baby yarn, easy to start *if* you take the time to cast on AND cast off with waste yarn, otherwise you will end up with the whole project unraveling. With a little help, my 5 yr old granddaughter made her baby cousin a head wrap the night she opened it. Tried to make a hat, but the machine is about 5 needles shy of being big enough to make a newborn hat...too bad because it would be very handy for supplying hats for hospital nurseries. Today she and her 8 yr old brother knitted a nice tubular scarf that she wore home. The instructions are crummy, if you don't use waste yarn, then cast on every other needle or you'll unravel. Don't force the machine, take the time to make sure your yarn is lying loosely beside you, and use a "one-two-one-two" tempo to crank. I paid $15 on sale for this little guy and the kids love it. If it breaks tomorrow, they'll have had that much fun, and have a few scarves and assorted knitted things~ it IS a toy, but a toy that works *with supervision* |
