It is so much nicer than my last machine (a very simple older Brother). The other customer said it sounded like something was wrong when she sewed, but I think it sounds nice, much quieter than my old machine. I haven't used much of the fancy stiches, but the straight and zig zag are perfect!   A reviewer from Huntsville, AL stitching quality not consistent This machine is "OK" for the cost. However, if you purchase this machine please remember this...if the bobbin thread does not drape across the left-hand side of the bobbin the machine will not have any tension. You MUST make sure that the thread pulls up and that if you look through the bobbin window you can see the thread about 1/8th of an inch from the left edge of the bobbin. If the thread is in place it will stitch just fine. I don't like the way the machine sounds either. It sounds as thought something is wrong each time you sew...although it keeps going. If I had it to do again...I would have applied the $299 to a better machine.   A reviewer from huntsville texas so happy with this machine! I purchased this thinking, is this a bad buy? I started sewing a sundress for my four year old daughter, and absolutely loved it.
